Since 2018, visa applications for Oman no longer depend on the consular service. You absolutely must apply online, on the official government portal or via agency if you are staying there for more than 14 days. How does this work? And if you come from one of the countries of the United Arab Emirates, do you need a visa to travel to Oman? We'll answer your questions.

The new regulations

It is since 26 February 2018 that big changes in the legislation of visa application to Oman have taken place. Tourist and business visas are no longer handled by the consular service and can only be applied for online.. If you would like to obtain a visa to travel to the Sultanate of Oman on your next holiday, you need to go to the government portal and fill in an e-visa application.

With e-visa, you can apply for and pay for your e-visa directly online, then receive it by e-mail once your application has been validated and approved by the Omani authorities. It is then up to you to print it out and present it when you arrive in the Sultanate of Oman.

If you are having difficulty completing your application (in English), consider using a specialist agency. The agency will take care of everything and then send you your e-visa by e-mail.. So you can save time!

The e-visa is valid for 30 days from the date of approval and allows a stay of between 14 and 30 days, renewable once. It costs around 20 Omani rials (48 €) for a 30-day visa.

Travelling to Oman from the UAE?

If you are arriving in the Persian Gulf for a tourist visit from one of the countries in the United Arab Emirates, such as Dubai, you do not need to apply for an entry visa. ⚠️ However, there is one condition sine qua non: your stay must take place within three weeks of your arrival in the UAE.

To enter the United Arab Emirates, you must have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months after your return.  If you have a valid visa for Dubai, you can enter the Sultanate of Oman without an additional visa, but not the other way round. No matter where you are.

If you have a valid visa for Qatar, you can also travel to Oman without any additional formalities.

If you are coming from Khasab in Musandam and wish to visit Six Senses Zighi Bay, you will have to pay a visa fee of 5 dinars (1 €) when crossing the border into the United Arab Emirates. And the same thing on the way back! What's more, you'll also have to pay the visa fee for the Sultanate of Oman (even if you've already paid it at Muscat airport).

ATTENTION: THE EMBASSY HAS SUSPENDED THESE FACILITIES UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
